Stress- strain, lack of physical exercise, unhealthy dietary habits, lack of understanding in marital relations, increased age of marriages, increasing incidences of several hormonal & other disorders etc. are setting exaggerated examples of infertility in both males and females presently in World. Charaka had depicted several treating modalities against Vandhyatva several years ago. He highlighted about Vajikaran Tantra and Vajikarana Chikitsa to treat infertility. The importance of Vajikarana suits very conveniently in present era as Vajikarana treats not only the individual but it also empowers the capacity of healthy procreation and generation in their progeny (Cha.Chi. 2/4/51). In Vajikaran chapter he had enlisted many Kalpoushadhi to treat male infertility. Proper use of the following three Shukrajanaka, Shukrapravartaka and Shukrajanaka-Shukrapravartaka; Aahara, Vihara and Aushadhi definitely helps in treating male infertility promisingly. Charaka had also explained certain qualities of ideal female for sexual acts as he thought that females are the best Vajikarana (Cha.Chi. 2/1/4-7).
