Journal of Indian System of Medicine (J-ISM) enters into eighth year of publication in 2020. Immense effort and time was devoted by all the patrons, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and authors in enhancing the quality of the publication and in bringing in a new avatar of the journal in 2019; we appreciate their efforts in doing so.
As we step into the new year of publication overcoming hurdles and difficulties faced in the previous year, new challenges are ready to be tackled. The journal witnessed a positive response in the first year of its association with Medknow. There was an exponential growth in the articles submitted with simultaneous rise in rejections too. Quality publication was the main aim of the journal in 2019, which we persist with, and we continue our efforts in producing publications that are focused and can really contribute in providing the right information. Through peer-reviewed content concerned to Indian system of medicine, the journal continues to help in providing updated information to the clinician for improving the patient care and to the future researchers whose work is concerned at validation of the science.
It is to be noted that J-ISM is one of the fewest journals, which does not levy any publication fees to contributing authors since its inception. The publication of the journal is fully supported by the affiliate university, and the future publication model would remain the same. The journal would persist with the open access model as suggested by the editorial board members. We would like to thank the team members of Medknow (Wolters Kluwer India) for their kind support and smooth coordination during this year of transition. We are happy to inform the readers that the process of journal indexing has been started, and we would continue further indexation in reputed databases. We aim to be one of the best quality journals of Indian system of medicine by imbibing the new techniques and standards of publications.
Pursuant to many requests received by authors, the editorial board is happy to announce that from 2020, “Protocol Publication” has been added as a new area of publication in its domain. It would serve as an ideal tool for researchers to have an insight of the types of works proposed with its methodology and also to help in avoiding unknowing duplicity of the work.[1] The first protocol to be published in the journal would be on a study to assess the effectiveness of Abhaya Sunthi Churna and Snehana Swedana in Tamaka Shwasa (Bronchial Asthama) in children.
COVID-19 has brought about unprecedented changes in everyone’s life. All activities and work have witnessed a major roadblock and limitation in this period. However, the editorial team has overcome these challenges and has brought out the present issue. It is our honor and duty to acknowledge the sincere efforts of authors, peer reviewers, and technical team in helping us in bringing out this issue. In the period of social distancing, social interaction is a key way of communication and interaction. To increase the reach of our journal, J-ISM is planning to become more socially active by enhancing its presence in many public platforms in near future.
The editorial board of the journal is enriched by the addition of new experts from various specialties of medicine; I welcome them and look forward for their active interaction in future. I am confident that the articles published in the current issue is resourceful to the readers.
